Tuesday, June 11, 2024 (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Now Hiring! Apply Today! These common pleas from many clean energy companies, including solar, wind, and energy efficiency, are more urgent than ever as the nation transitions to a clean energy economy. Join this engaging session to learn how IREC (Interstate Renewable Energy Council) and partners are developing effective processes, supports, and resources to raise awareness of clean energy and energy efficiency career pathways, improve access to training programs and employers, and build collaborations to foster the development of a diverse workforce.

With a focus on supports for the Weatherization Assistance Program and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), we will discuss:

-How the Green Workforce Connect initiative provides job seekers with information about a career in clean energy and access to training programs and potential employers across the country, with a focus on reaching underrepresented populations and disadvantaged communities.

-How clean energy and energy efficiency employers can work together to raise awareness of clean energy career pathways, create new on-ramps for job seekers, including apprenticeships, and improve opportunities for community engagement and local collaboration between workforce stakeholders.

-Valuable insights and lessons learned from the National Clean Energy Workforce Alliance, and other IREC lead projects, including emerging innovative strategies to increase successful recruitment and retention of a new generation of diverse clean energy and energy efficiency professionals.
